Job/Position DescriptionNurse IIStarting salary: $5,583.33 monthlyThe Abilene State Supported Living Center(SSLC), part of the Health and Specialty Care System, is seeking a Registered Nurse and#150; Preceptor RN to join an interdisciplinary team of professionals to provide clinical care to individuals of the SSLC. As a State Supported Living Nurse, you will work at the SSLC campus with a dynamic group of staff and professionals who are dedicated to providing supports and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Work involves providing for the assessment, care and treatment of patients. May train others. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Serves as a RN and#150; Nurse Preceptor for other nurses. Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager IV. The Unit RN II may assign nursing responsibilities to the Unit LVN in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. The responsibility of the RN and#150; Nurse Preceptor is to provide for and supervise the professional nursing care of the individuals who reside in a state school setting. The RN and#150; Nurse Preceptor is available to unit personnel to make nursing decisions on a 24-hour basis. Acts as a member of the professional team and shares responsibility with other team members for the development of the individualand#146;s program. Participates in facility QA/QI initiatives, as required. Work involves communication skills, i.e. relaying information to other team members, physicians, nurses; data entry, documentation, completing reports, maintaining personnel records, supervisory duties, and following all facility rules/policies. Provide treatment to HHS employees injured in course and scope of employment. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.Administers medications, immunizations, and treatment and observes patients for unusual symptoms and reactions.Conducts physical assessments of patient health needs and implements appropriate action.Acts as a preceptor for other nurses.Implements and monitors case management service plans.Instructs and assists patients in meeting their health care needs.Prepares, maintains, and reviews patient records and patient assessments.Participates in quality assurance/quality improvement initiatives.
