Nurse Extern opportunities are available at Henry Ford Medical Center Fairlane - Emergency Department GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse, performs specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient using the nursing process. Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. Recognizes and participates in own continuing education.
Must be available to attendONEof the following Nurse Extern orientations:
If starting MAY 9- Must be available May 9 - May 13 8am-4:30pm for orientation and training
If startingJUNE 13- Must be available June 13 - 17 8am-4:30pm for orientation and training
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Enrolled in an accredited school of nursing (BSN schools preferred).
The completion of two clinical rotations, one of which must be Med/Surg (in an acute care setting) by scheduled start date
To remain in the extern role you MUST:
Actively be enrolled in a nursing program
Successfully complete each course
Provide transcripts to Nurse Manager after each course;
If at any point the extern does not meet their academic institution’s standard for continued enrollment in the school of nursing classes, their employment as an extern will be rescinded.
