We have two openings on days and evenings. Certified Nursing Assistant – Med Tech (CNA-M): POSITION SUMMARY: As part of a strong clinical team, providing amazing care and service to our Residents is the primary responsibility of our CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT-MED TECH (CNA-M). The purpose of this position is to administer medications to each resident ensuring they receive the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practicable physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being in accordance with the comprehensive assessment and plan of care. The Med Tech works under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse as assigned and in accordance with State/ Federal regulations and facility procedures and reports observations to licensed nurse on duty; maintains clean and orderly equipment for medication administration. Reports to Charge Nurse. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To be successful in this job, each individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Essential Functions Statement(s): * Administers routinely scheduled oral and topical medications according to physician orders via scanning per FAH policy to assigned residents. * Follows all steps in administering medication: Correct resident, medication, dosage, form of dosage and time including following FAH scanning procedure to ensure best practice. * The expectation is 100% scanning compliance below 90% accuracy may prompt further education, disciplinary action and reflection on annual evaluation. * Monitors and records vital signs according to physician orders and standard of practice. * Reports any unusual or unwanted medication side effects to Charge Nurse. * Maintains accurate documentation of all medications and treatments based on policy and best practice. * Assists Charge Nurse with returning, re-ordering, and destroying medications per facility policy. * Notifies Charge Nurse of any outdated medication and of any projected shortage of medications or supplies. * Makes suggestions to resolve problems or streamline medication system to Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing Services. * Performs all routine duties of a C.N.A. as required or assigned. * Keeps medication cart clean and stocked with house drugs, cups, straws, spoons, etc. per shift. * Reports any change in the residents’ condition or other pertinent information to the Charge Nurse. * Demonstrates initiative by seeking and accepting new assignments and responsibilities. * Her/his assigned duties meet facility standards of nursing care, is familiar with and follows the facilities policies and procedures. * Promotes and maintains positive relationships with peers and Residents and works collaboratively with all departments. * Ability to remain pleasant, cheerful, tactful, and courteous at all times. * Meets residents’ needs by promoting highest level of independence. * Completes assignments in a timely, safe, and thorough manner. * Is dependable and demonstrates ability to follow the attendance policy. * Ensures that all Resident needs are met through resident centered approach. * Welcomes and assists in the orientation of all new employees. * Update job knowledge and maintains certified nursing assistant status by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; fulfilling continuing education requirements. * Ensures adherence to all First Atlantic professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. * Ability to cooperate with other personnel and to resolve interpersonal conflicts with minimal assistance. * Must maintain information as confidential material per HIPAA. * Willingness to accept suggestions and supervision from supervisor. * Principles of infection control and prevention are consistently followed. Demonstrate adherence to universal precautions and exposure control plan/ Personal protective equipment when appropriate. * Med Tech will comply with the First Atlantic Healthcare Hand Washing and Hand Hygiene Policy. * Respect facility property and equipment. * Dresses in accordance with facility uniform policy. * Ability to be flexible and work other units and shifts as needed and assists other departments as needed. SKILLS and ABILITIES: Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) Experience: We are happy to train on the job Computer Skills: Must be able interact our computer-based Electronic Medical Record Certificates and Licenses: Must be a graduate of a state-approved CNA-M program and on the Maine CNA Registry Attendance: Able to work scheduled shifts, committing to being there for your team and Residents.
