The occupational nurse is a licensed registered nurse who is responsible for assuring competent, compassionate, individualized, nursing care for MITRE employees. Occupational Health Nurses work closely and collaboratively to explore all issues, to increase employee understanding, insight, and individual motivation. The nurse encourages self-management as an essential part of the employee’s ability to maintain their wellbeing, work functions and capabilities.
The Occupational Health Nurse is an integral part of MITRE’s health, safety, and wellness effort. Clinical nurses ensure employee care is supportive, efficient, effective, timely and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each employee. Building relationships, reassuring, listening, and talking with employees provides the occupational health nurse with the tools to assess employee strengths, risks, and vulnerabilities in the work environment. Situational evaluation may include information from other relevant sources, maintained in a secure, confidential, and private setting.
