We are actively seeking LPNs to join our excellent nurse team! River Place Behavioral Health, a service of Ochsner Health System, provides state-of-the-art psychiatric care for adults who are struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns. Conveniently located in LaPlace, Louisiana, just 20 minutes west of New Orleans and 40 minutes east of Baton Rouge. Among its many features, this historic community along the banks of the Mississippi River in Saint John the Baptist Parish offers the serenity and seclusion that are conducive to healing.

AVAILABLE SHIFTS AND HOURS

We have full and part-time staff LPN positions available for the day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) shifts. Shifts are 12-hours, 3 days per week with shift differentials available. All full-time LPNs rotate weekend shifts.

TRAINING AND ORIENTATION

River Place is committed to training and safety. All new-hire LPNs attend general orientation for one week, which includes classroom training, EPIC training, BLS, and Handle with Care training. After general orientation, the nurse begins a clinical orientation with a nurse preceptor which lasts for several shifts. Additional preceptor shifts available as needed

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE:

  • Monitor patient health and administer basic care utilizing the nursing process within the LPN/LVN scope of practice in carrying out care plan objectives and goals.

  • Role model expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety.

  • Collaborate with others to ensure that patients’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints.

  • Provide for the basic comfort of patient, implement nursing interventions identified in the plan of care that is individualized to their needs.

  • Apply appropriate interventions to progress the patient towards wellness and address maintenance of wellness.

  • Discuss the care provided with patient and listen to their concerns. Report status changes and concerns to registered nurses and doctors.

  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patient, visitors, coworkers and others involved in the patient's treatment in an effective manner.

  • Provide for the safe delivery of medication in accordance with policies and procedures, physicians orders and/or current practice.

  • Maintain standards of professional nursing practice in accordance with facility policy and procedures, other external governing and credentialing bodies, performance improvement standards and psychiatric nursing standards.

  • Responsible for thorough, accurate reporting and documentation of the patient symptoms, responses and progress.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL/LICENSES REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Prefer one year of nursing experience within the clinical area of service provided by the facility.

  • Current Practical Nurse (LPN) license as required by Louisiana

  • First Aid, CPR, de-escalation, and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).

  • Experience with EPIC EMR a plus
