Norman Regional Health System Charge Nurse (RN) I, Porter Emergency Department, Nights in Norman, Oklahoma

Our Emergency Departments operate 24/7 and provide stabilization and life-saving care to 95,000+ patients each year. We operate as a Level III trauma center, take care of all medical emergencies, specialize in patients with active strokes and heart attacks, work with two dozen EMS agencies, and collaborate with ED physicians, residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. Porter ED has 34 beds, HPX ED has 16 beds, and Moore ED has 13 beds.   • Reports to Nurse Manager. In absence of the Nurse Manager, reports Clinical Director or House Supervisor.

  • Supervises multi-disciplinary team members in the performance of their duties, and may act as a preceptor to RN and student nurses.

  • Coordinates the nursing services of departments by leading, directing and collaborating within the interdisciplinary care team.

  • Serves as department leader alongside and in absences of Nurse Manager.

Performs RN essential functions as needed. Works alongside department manager in staffing decisions, setting departmental policy and creating a positive, safe and efficient Emergency department.


  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.


  • 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse required.

(Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience).


  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN license.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care.

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment.

  • Must have current ACLS and PALS certification at the time of promotion to this position.

  • ASLS, MANDT Relational Training, and MANDT Technical training required within 1 year of hire.
