Position Description :

Rhoads 1 is a 24-bed Progressive Care Surgical Unit where we care for patients who have undergone Vascular and Reconstructive Plastic surgeries in an intermediate care setting. Common procedures include endovascular aortic aneurysm repairs, arterial bypass grafts, limb amputation, and microvascular free-flap breast reconstruction. Our interdisciplinary team provides patient-centered and evidence-based care based on the Progressive Care Model. Patients remain on Rhoads 1 for the duration of their hospitalization from procedure through discharge. This requires flexibility and a wide scope of skills for our nurses, who are competent in the care of higher acuity patients with advanced monitoring and receiving continuous infusions of vasoactive medications, as well as discharge teaching for drain care, incision care, and self-administration of subcutaneous anticoagulants. Our team prides itself on outcomes-focused care, a high standard of professional development and a culture of staff engagement and peer feedback and is a Beacon Gold award-winning unit since 2016
