The ICU Step Down Unit is a 24 bed intermediate/progressive care unit. This unit is great for nurses looking to take the next step in their career towards critical care! Our patients require various amounts of oxygen which includes high flow and bipap. We are able to titrate a wide array of drips. Our patient population includes cardiac, pulmonary, sepsis, renal, neuro, respiratory, and post procedural/surgical. All of our patients are monitored via bedside telemetry and by a monitor technician. Our unit operates with all registered nurses, patient care techs, unit secretaries, and monitor technicians as well as Charge Nurses and a Clinical Care Lead. We offer self-scheduling and up to a 13 week orientation. All of our nurses obtain their ACLS within the first year of employment and receive basic rhythm education.

Registered Nurse (RN) – St Mary's Hospital:

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to patients by:

  • Utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status

  • Determining the priority of the patient’s problems and needs

  • Implementing clinical nursing interventions

  • Having a highly diverse skillset

  • Developing and performing patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes

  • Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team

  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment

  • Evaluates, updates and revises plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes

  • Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and Bon Secours policies and procedures

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degreein Nursing

Licensing & Certifications:

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association or Red Cross

  • If you do not have this certification, Bon Secours will help you gain this certification during Orientation
