About this role
Under direct supervision and direction of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), Program Manager (PM), or higher licensed medical professional, the Nursing Assistant (NA) provides assistance with direct and indirect patient care and will communicate and maintain accurate patient events records.
What you bring to the table
- Completed an approved Clinical Nursing Assistant program
- Previous correctional/detention facility experience
Medication administration certificate, if applicable in assigned state
Current (must maintain) lifesaving BLS and ACLS certification through AHA
Unrestricted Certificate in Clinical Nursing Assistant
What you will do
Prepares patient records and completes each patients chart for necessary forms needed, including required documentation, on a daily basis outlined by CMGC and Facility
Assist nursing staff in duties involving direct and indirect persons served care, including but not limited to:o Personal care skills: Bathing, grooming including mouth care, dressing, toileting, assisting with eating and hydration, proper feeding techniques, skin care, transfers, positioning, and turning.o Safety/Emergency procedures: preparation and knowledge on how to act in emergencies, disaster preparedness, knowledge of emergency plans, evacuation, and communication.o Basic nursing skills: Taking and recording vital signs, measuring and recording height and weight, caring for the persons served environment, recognizing abnormal changes in body functioning and the importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor, caring for persons served when death is imminent.o Infection control: Evaluating and maintaining safe environment, reporting of signs and symptoms to licensed professionals, surveillance and monitoring.o Communication and interpersonal skills: The ability to communicate and demonstrate emphatic care. The ability to demonstrate competency in delicate situations.o Care of cognitively impaired persons served: Able to address the unique needs and behaviors of individuals with dementia (Alzheimer disease and others)o Basic restorative care: Training the patient in self-care according to the persons served abilities; use of assistive devices in transferring, ambulation, eating, and dressing; maintenance of range of motion; proper turning and positioning in bed and chair; bowel and bladder training; care and use of prosthetic and orthotic devices.o Mental health and social service needs: Modifying one’s behavior in response to persons served behavioro Patients’ rights: Providing privacy and maintenance of confidentiality
Reports persons served condition changes to supervisor
Works within scope and ensures compliance with Company policies and procedures and regulatory requirements, including bloodborne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, and safety
May assist in the job shadow portion of the interview process of potential staff
May assist for orientation and training of new employees
Perform other duties as assigned.
