Please note: This is a part time position working 20 hours per week.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
Initiation and management of a contraceptive method of Family Planning patient’s choice after evaluation by history, laboratory tests, and physical assessment and examination.
Exercises professional knowledge and judgment in maintaining high standards of care and in requesting medical assistance or early consultation when medical judgments are required.
Maintains complete client records through accurate documentation within program guidelines.
Obtains complete medical histories and completes physical examinations, requesting physician consultation when indicated.
Assesses immediate and long-range health care needs of clients and develops plan for care.
Provides verbal and written instructions regarding method.
Obtains informed consent.
Performs reassessment, screening, and counseling.
Provides for educational needs of Family Planning clients
Makes decisions regarding use of oral contraceptives.
Provides pre-conceptual and inter-conceptual health services.
Provides pregnancy testing and counseling
Provides non-prescriptive methods.
Fits patients for diaphragms.
Utilizes new methods of hormonal contraception as indicated by DOH guidelines.
Provides Depo-Provera injections.
Inserts and removes IUDs and LARCs
Management and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases and minor gynecological problems.
Provide HIV pre-counseling and post counseling as indicated
Provides PAP smears and follow up for abnormal pap smears.
Provides referrals to gynecologic specialty for cryocautery and colposcopy procedure
Participates in Quality Assurance audits, nursing staff/team meetings, in-service, continuing education, and a resource for other clinical health staff.
Provides educational and clinical services to clients in the community as needed.
Provides input into problem solving for Family Planning and STD issues.
Submits ad hoc reports related to area of expertise.
Discusses clinic issues with Supervisor and Nursing Program Specialist.
Reviews and updates Family Planning and STD protocols annually
Participates in all reporting and review requirements for Title X including quarterly reporting, annual site visit/desk reviews.
Other duties as assigned with adjustable scheduling
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced knowledge of nursing practice
Knowledge of Title X requirements
Knowledge of STDs
Basic computer skills
Ability to use an electronic health record
Master’s degree in Nursing
Licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464
1-3 years of experience
A Valid Florida driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation
