Virginia Mason Memorial Registered Nurse (RN) - Psychiatry in Yakima, Washington

We are looking for an RN to join the growing Psychiatry team at Yakima Valley Memorial! We’ve recently expanded our medical Psychiatry Unit to 18 beds, and we’re in the design phase for an additional expansion up to 24 beds in the near future. We are actively seeking out expansion opportunities so we might serve more patients from around the Pacific Northwest with a complex medical and psychiatric presentation. Our unit is a combined med/psych unit for patients with a psychiatric illness and co-morbid medical issues that require hospital care.

Nurses in the psychiatric unit have the unique opportunity to develop their psychiatric skillset while maintaining their acute medical nursing skills. Medical complications that we accommodate include, but are not limited to, diabetes, dialysis, remote telemetry, IV access, complex wounds, catheter care, and fetal monitoring. RNs in our Psychiatry Unit enjoy the full support of providers, management staff, nursing assistants, and social workers located directly onsite.

RNs at Yakima Valley Memorial also enjoy support from a 24-hour Lift Team, 24-hour Respiratory Team, Pharmacy (24-hour med mixing), IV Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Dietitians, and Chaplains.

All staff members at Yakima Valley Memorial must be in compliance with the Vaccination Policy, which includes the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) vaccine, by their first day of employment.

Role Summary The RN completes individualized patient assessments; develops a care plan based on assessment/history findings; delivers patient-centered care that is culturally appropriate; evaluates a patient’s response to care and revises as needed. The RN is accountable to deliver care as well as to oversee and delegate to other personnel (clinical & non-clinical) in delivering/supporting the delivery of care.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred. Experience: Previous acute care nursing experience preferred. Licenses/Certificates/Registration: Washington State (DOH) Registered Nurse licensure required. American Heart Association BLS required.
